WHALES & VINEYARDS SAFARI

Situated along the shores of Walker Bay, Hermanus is the official whale watching capital of the world during the months of July to December. Sixty to 100 whales visit the shores of Hermanus from Antarctica to breed and rear young, coming as close as 10m of the coast. Unspoiled mountains and indigenous Fynbos make for a picturesque backdrop for Southern Right whale watching.

TOUR INCLUDES

Coastal drive – Take a coastal drive along the famous False Bay passing Gordan’s Bay, Rooiels & Pringle Bay

Stony Point – Home to one of the largest successful breeding colonies of African Penguin in the world. Located in the quaint coastal town of Betty’s Bay in the Overberg we will also take an aerial view of Waaygat Whaling Station.

Hermanus – Famous for watching the Southern Right whale between June-December and overlooking Walker Bay. The Old Harbour Museum is a site encompassing the old harbour, a fishermen’s village and the Whale House Museum. The latter has informative displays and a suspended skeleton of a whale.

Benguela Cove – Nestled between two gentle hills on the banks of the Botrivier Lagoon, lies the Benguela Cove Coastal Wine Estate where you shall be met for a 6 tasting open vehicle vineyard safari.

Iona Wine Estate – Overlooking the Elgin Valley in the North and the Atlantic Ocean in the South, offering world class Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and our unique red blend, the One Man Band, a blend of 6 grape varieties. The Herbert Baker homestead is surrounded by a lovely garden and mature trees.

Almenkerk Wine Estate – Surrounded by the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, which is classified as a World Heritage Site, the site also supports at least three Red Listed threatened species of plants and many more may be present.

Sir Lowry’s Pass – Modern cantilevered four-lane highway is a far cry from the original pass, which was recklessly dangerous and steep. Prior to the pass being built, all wagon traffic from the Overberg routed through the Franschoek Pass – the preferred route for many years with its kinder gradients for wagons and oxen.
